Sorry might be a silly question - 
If UC payments are based on net pay for which they get the information from HMRC
then how do they know what the gross pay is (to decide which group to put people in above or below AET) as HMRC doesn't show this.

    UC receives HMRC data including gross pay, income tax, national insurance, company pension deduction and net pay.

If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
