Chase Farm Hospital Parkingeye parking charge notice for 3 minute overstay at ‘free’collection point

Parkingeye have issued a parking charge notice for 3 minute overstay at the ‘free’ drop off and collection point at Chase Farm Hospital.

My (adult) daughter had day surgery under general anaesthetic so had to be collected from the ward.

I was called by the hospital to say she was ready to be collected and directed to park at the free drop off point directly outside the hospital entrance.

On arrival I asked directions to the day surgery ward on the 2nd floor and found a nurse to inform her I was here to collect my daughter. I waited a short while for the her to be discharged and we slowly made their way back to the car as she was having difficulty walking due to the nature of her surgery.

We then drove off.

Parkingeye are charging £100 for overstaying the 15 minute permitted time by 3 minutes!

There was no way I could have collected her and returned to the car any quicker.
The hospital was practically deserted at this time of night and no other cars were denied the parking space.
I immediately contacted PALS at the hospital but despite chasing have not heard back from their parking team in the last 2 weeks.
It is now 14 days since the charge notice was issued but I have no intention of paying this unfair fine and will fight it all the way!

I was thinking of appealing today while the charge is reduced to £60 but as I will not pay this if I lose the appeal is there any point?

What do you advise?  Thank you.

Complain to PALS again. Insist they step in.

    Easy one!

There is no value whatsoever in trying the freeze the £60. You won't be paying!  It is irrelevant. It matters not that you'll pass 14 days.  Ignore that. There's no deadline.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
