Good morning, don't know what the weather is doing, yesterday wasn't a bad day.
Another medical appointment for Dh this morning so we'll be out by 9am, it's at a medical centre a few miles away.
Hope everyone is ok and has a good day, take care folks.

Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet, hope all goes well.
I've been up for hours pottering about but must be ready early this morning as the builder I use is coming to put up shelves and pictures in the kitchen.
Nothing much happening here, just looking forward to the weekend after a busy week at work.
dp1 - hope the little one makes a speedy recovery and can enjoy the celebrations at school.
Take care. XX12 -
Good morning all
Thank you for the start @ScarletRibbons
Still dark here but the forecast is for dry weather today.
Went on the walk yesterday, very cold.
DP1 hope little one feels better soon and can enjoy the Christmas celebrations
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.12 -

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. I have my fingers crossed that all goes well for your DH.
I have been nurturing a cough since Monday which started off as a bit of a peff but yesterday it took off with a vengeance and I am currently making a good impression of a sea lion barking away. Needless to say it has been another sleepless night thanks to relentless coughing. Grr!
The bottoming of yesterday half happened but I can't move the heavy stuff by myself so the dust remains behind them for now! Nevertheless I will drag the boxes of decs down this afternoon and trim up a bit tomorrow.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need, especially Dp1's little DGD. I hope today brings better news for you. Take care all and stay safe xx

Morning all, thinking of @dp1 little one, so sorry to hear she’s missed her activities
We are off to wild and woolly Wiltshire for the weekend to visit family, going to Malmesbury first as not been there, then garden centre near Lacock, before going to family in Devizes
Have a good day allCarolbee12 -
Morning all
Thanks for the start Scarlet
Yesterday mornings trip out to avoid the electricity being off was a nice mooch around a nearby garden centre that puts on a massive Christmas display. No purchases but a few ideas for crafts. Followed by coffee and teacakes (toasted, not Tunnocks!) at a farm shop. The leek/pigs in blankets meal was tasty and a winner
Basic details - cook leeks, add flour and stock/milk to make a thick sauce. Add cooked pigs in blankets and blobs of mashed potato. Cover with puff pastry stars (or any other shape!) .
Today needs to be some chores and checking garden furniture etc ready for some hefty winds that are due.DP1 - fingers crossed little one feels better, she’s had such a horrid few months
TA - take care, hope you feel better soon
Gers - fingers crossed for the meeting.Carolbee- have a good weekend
Take care all

Good morning. Thanks for starting us Scarlet, hope all goes well today.
OH put the lights up outside yesterday, nothing ostentatious just some lights around the front of the house, but listening to the wind last night I wonder how many are still up.
Gers, no I didn't go shopping, but I must do it today. We have eaten down the freezer so well there really isn't much in there, I don't think I've seen it so empty.
Carolbee, enjoy your break, I love Devizes
Stay safe everyone, another storm on it's way.11 -
Thanks for starting us off @Scarlet, I hope all goes well for your DH today. Likewise for @DP1's DGD - poor mite, she's had so much to contend with and such a shame she's going to miss out on the school Xmas festivities.
Take it easy @TA, look after that cough. Enjoy your weekend @carolbee. That leek dish looks scrummy @AlwaysAllie. @mehefin - I don't have many Xmas cards to send nowadays and I'll confess I've been putting it off - like you, it will seem strange signing just my name.
It's a chilly start here this morning and just beginning to get light. It's supposed to be dry for most of the day but yet more rain due later and over the weekend. Yesterday we had a torrential downpour at tea time that threw up a long-standing structural issue of water ingress in the kitchen and bathroom above - cue buckets in strategic places and towels along window ledges. I shall be on the phone to the council soon to report it but I'm not holding out much hope for a solution.
The new table lamp threw up some surprises. You'd think it was a simple job of take out of box/put in bulb/plug in/switch on. But no. The shades needed to be attached to the lamp base and there was an envelope supposedly containing instructions and fixing screws but what it had was two soft, flexible washers plus a black plastic thing that looked like a Stilton cheese scoop and no instructions. I felt like a contestant on a game show, trying to work out what to do with these! Eventually the penny dropped and one shade was attached easily enough. The second one wasn't quite as obliging and all I will say is I must have more patience than a saint. It does look nice though.
What with the rain and table lamp, I didn't achieve much else. And the TV pixellation continues. Apparently there is engineering work happening at the transmitter after all, so I hope it's finished soon. Please let today be a less trying day!
Last night I had a prawn risotto for tea and there's enough prawns left to make a sandwich for lunch. Tonight's tea is cod in butter sauce, mash and peas.
Right, brekkie first then look out council, here I come! XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Morning all. Brighter this morning, with some sunshine, but I had a horrible drive down a wet M1 last night.
@Gers; thank you for the Nigel Slater recipe. Another one to have a go at. His book is also good to read so I might investigate a few of his others. I've now joined a FB book club so hoping for some good recommendations from there too.
Today we are meeting friends to visit the lights at Waddesdon Manor; something we used to do each year but haven't done for about 3 years. We've booked for 4pm so will need to wrap up warm.
Have the first load of washing in and will then need to pop to the shops for a few bits of food.
Stay warm and dry everyone and have a good Friday.9 -
Morning all, decent looking outside so far but horrific rain again yesterday afternoon, I still haven't had a reply to my complaint email to the council about the silted up drainage across the road, neither has next door & it's almost 2 weeks now
It happened again yesterday, and cars reach the bottom of the hill and the bend near us unaware of the water. They always go too fast anyway & I watched 2 cars that nearly crashed because they skidded and couldn't see because the water shot up in the air and onto their windscreens.Grrr.
I went into town yesterday morning & got the last of the bits for DGC, then wrapped everything up in the afternoon.DH had his 1st physio appt moved from morning to late afternoon. She was quite pleased with him and he's now got other exercises to do. He goes again next Tues. , I think for a dressing change.AA recipe looks goodCarolbee enjoy your break.dp1- poor LO, she deserves some good luck. Hope the cough soon goes TA. Scarlet, hope Mr S's appt goes well.We had beef stew from the freezer last night, another bit of room made! Certainly not nearly emptied though Remmie, well done!Lovely carols taff ( nearly wrote tru then)
Hope you enjoyed the walk SO, it's good to get out if you wrap up warm.Take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10
