    That seems a bad idea. It doesn't matter how many items, the act of opening a joint account is what creates the financial link that is shown by credit reference agencies
    Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

    Is your partner buying the new house in their own name, or are you buying it together? Will there be a mortgage in just your partner's name, or both your names? Either of these will create a financial link just like a joint bank account. As others have said, as your partner has debt such a financial link is a bad idea and should be avoided.
