Is your partner buying the new house in their own name, or are you buying it together? Will there be a mortgage in just your partner's name, or both your names? Either of these will create a financial link just like a joint bank account. As others have said, as your partner has debt such a financial link is a bad idea and should be avoided.1

Don't do it! You will regret it further down the line. What's the need to have a joint account, anyway?0
