Yodel temporarily unavailable on ebay (5th Dec)

Just in case this is Nationally and not just in my area ebay are currently showing this message on this postage page

'Yodel delivery services are temporarily unavailable on the eBay site due to ongoing network capacity constraints.'

The issues with Yodel have been mentioned on other sites already, notably those connected with Vinted, where in some areas items are not showing as sent for several days, and in other places showing as not being collected from drop off shops for several days as no courier available.

I rarely if ever use Yodel on ebay but I did use it on Vinted and have taken it off for a while, however for those using Vinted it is worth noting that there are new terms connected with the seller preferences on postage. Basically you can turn off whatever options you can't use (this has always been the case) but it now says that Vinted reserve the right to over ride seller preferences where a buyer has limited delivery choices due to their location. There are many people already moaning that Yodel has been chosen by a buyer despite it not showing as available in seller preferences.

Websites like Yodel because they are cheap and they give resellers who use them (e.g. Vinted) a bigger rebate/commission than other courier services do. Sellers hate Yodel because collection is in my experience unreliable at best, drop off often seems to result in items going missing and their deliveries never seem to get there when they are supposed to. Some buyers love Yodel because they are cheap, others hate Yodel because the delivery service is in my personal experience unreliable.
  • It's because of a capacity crisis.

Never use Yodel or Evri anyways - I stay well clear of them.

On Vinted I use inpost, Evri and Yodel and all seem about as reliable as each other, none stand out as being particularly bad. I have disabled Yodel temporarily though due to the  not updating situation that started happening about a week ago- as that's a problem for sellers on Vinted. The only other choice on Vinted is RM which is not a good service the way Vinted have set it up and is worse than Yodel in my area for updating.

There are also DPD options, but no one uses that, and also a new one called Relay which keeps appearing and which hardly anyone has ever heard of (so I removed that as well)

I noticed this the other day so it's definitely nationwide.  I rarely send by them as my local store is not on my "daily route"
