Question from newbie regarding cards.

Hello,
I am new to cards having only held a few for a couple of months and hopefully someone will know the answer to my question.
My Virgin card took out a DD payment of £50 yesterday which was the DD I set up at the beginning just to cover the minimum payment.
Last month, I paid of my balance in full and so had a zero balance. I wasn't sure if they would even take the £50 in DD form because my other card issuer didn't having paid the full balance on that particular card.
Checking the Virgin card this morning and they have taken the £50 DD which is fine but my balance for this month has just stayed the same. Am I wrong in thinking that it should have came of the balance or do they wait until my next statement and take it of then.
I did phone them this morning to query it, however, the guy I spoke to had a foreign accent and spoke very quickly and to be honest, I am none the wiser.
If anyone knows what happens, that would be very much appreciated, thank you!

It may take a couple of days for the payment to show. It should then show as a transaction and reduce the balance.

fyi - the DD will be taken as the minimum payment or the £50 which ever is higher. Might be stating the obvious but thought I'd throw that in here.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. My cards are a mix of showing the payment as pending (HSBC for example) or showing nothing at all (NatWest for example) but the next day they show the payment and balance goes down
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
