Solar batteries removed from Eon next tariff :-(

Hi,
We have solar panels… and recently invested in solar batteries. We do not have an Electric Vehicle.
Today, I discovered that Eon next have removed solar batteries from their tariff…. and only offer the v5 tariff to those with an EV.
Is this something MSE may wish to take up? Can you source and share energy tariffs for solar batteries?
We thought we were doing the right thing and now seem to be penalised for trying to cut our electricity bills! 😔
Thank you for reading this and hope that you can help…..

I have octopus flux, but the export rate has been cut since October, unless yourxport at peak 1600\1900.
You could octopus agile too with octopus fixed export, but agile is a bit risky at the moment.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 + Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0 -
I have been on the Eon NextDrive tariff since September 2023. As far as I can remember they have always required you to have an EV in order to have access to this tariff. I charge my EV with a "granny charger" that draws about 2.4 kW. I don't think Eon can tell what I am charging so if you are prepared to lie you could probably sign-up for the tariff, and charge your "solar" battery overnight (I presume that is what you wanted to do, you don't actually say). I don't see that Eon could tell from your pattern of usage what it was that you were charging so they couldn't tell that you don't have an EV.Reed0

I was looking for something else and found this - so to make a couple of updates
next drive v3 and v4 both have always allowed battery users - neither of these were solely for ev and this was clearly written in the T&C although to be honest they hid it well
v5 has removed batteries BUT they have publicly said that they will still allow battery owners to join until their solar/battery tariff is released ( which is now way overdue ) { thats what I was actually looking for } - your mileage may vary with the helpdesk but many on facebook seem to have successfully joined on this premiss
if you cant join eon then tomato is still an option as is octopus although they are far from competitive these days.
as a slightly controversial point though... the market for people charging batteries at night then selling back to the grid at a vast profit at a time that is convenient rather than necessary is not what it used to be and probably never will be again. Solar and batteries will need to fit in with the market as it evolves.0 -
If you can avoid the very high peak rate by using your battery storage and solar during the day, then Utility Warehouse's Economy 7 tariff might work for you.
In our area (Yorkshire) they have a 7 hour 5p off peak rate with a 35p peak rate and a relatively high s/c of 65p.
It suits our usage well and once the Powerwall is installed next month, we should be able to avoid the 35p peak rate on all but a very exceptional basis.
No requirements for an EV. It's a bog standard Economy 7 tariff.
If you take out a second service like a SIM card with them, you can fix the electricity rate for 12 months (with a £75 early exit fee), for peace of mind. The SIM deal isn't attractive, but because we have a very high electricity usage of 18,000kWh p.a. I decided it was worth it to lock in the 5p off-peak electricity rate for 12 months.0
