PIP Help

Options
Hi all, I’ve just been awarded PIP however I was only awarded the lower mobility component. I have a number of health conditions that do affect my daily living. Does anyone know if this is common to only be accepted for mobility? Unsure if I should appeal. Thank you.

It's not uncommon in my experience. When you read your decision letter, did you find yourself thinking that they had got a lot wrong in the assessment and in the decision? To appeal, you need to be able to explain what they have got wrong and, ideally, provide more evidence to support your view. If you have family or friends who know how you struggle to look after yourself, you could ask them what they think the DWP has got wrong or misunderstood.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
  • You need to look at the points you scored and if you feel that is a fair reflection. If you believe that you should have been awarded more points and the DWP have made an error then think about requesting a MR  and if still unhappy an appeal.
With an MR they can and do lower or remove an award but a Tribunal will give a person a warning if they are considering it.
The advice is normally is if a person believes they are missing points then do go for a MR and then an appeal but you need to be honest with yourself about the points.
