Speeding fine took ages to deliver

  • There are no other realistic options.
  • It came back with a £160 fine and 4 points.
    Also £110 costs and a £64 surcharge.

    So £334 in total.

Does anyone know what is likely to have been the fine if I received the original letter and is it likely to have been the same points?  Have they just ignored my request to be treated as though I received the letter?

It would have been the same. For 50 in a 30, its a Band B offence.

    It certainly is, But...
It says I received a letter offering a fixed penalty on 13/08/2024 but I did not receive any such letter.
50 in a 30 limit would not normally see a fixed penalty offer, But it seems one was made.

If you had received the offer and accepted it the penalty would have been £100 and three points.

Either ignored it or decided not to accede to your request. What exactly did you say when you responded to the SJPN?

You could ask for  your case to be reopened under s142 of the Magistrates' Court Act. You need to be a bit careful because the sentencing guidelines for that speed (if indeed that's what it was - you haven't really said) suggest four to six points, with six being the most likely.
