Solicitor Payments on Account

I have received a Letter Before Action but my instinct tells me it might just be a 'fright letter'. My solicitor has my agreement to proceed on our behalf but requires a large 'payment on account' before any action will be taken. If my solicitor responds to the LBA for a postponement to our response and the claimant abandons their claim, will the payment on account be refunded ?

they should do - but what do the T&Cs of the contract you have with the solicitor say?1

Very strange question.
Your solicitor will bill you invoice for work done and then refund deference or ask for additional funds.
Didnt you recieve statment of cost, indicating estimated costs?

For context and background it would be better for you to post on your original thread1

OP, payment on account is just an advance to cover the solicitors costs. If they don't spend it all, they will refund the money once the action is completed, or ask for more if they need more. It's a bit like being in credit with your gas bill.1

The solicitor will bill you for actual work done, and if that is less than the payment on account will refund the difference.0

This has no connection with previous threads. With due respect, you don’t seem like someone who should be getting involved in litigation. For goodness sake, settle this matter before it takes over your life.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1
