Old house electrics

Options
New light fittings and new fuse board for the downstairs was fitted 2 years ago.

After about a year a couple of the lights seem to flicker every few weeks. It's quite infrequent.

The electrician came and said it's an older house and sometimes there are slight electricity surges in certain homes) but it seems to be contained to only two lights? Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Wouldn't hurt to check the terminals in the consumer unit - They can occasionally come loose, as can the terminals in light switches & fittings.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

One is a dimmer switch with a three bulb chandelier, yes.

The other is one of two wall lights on the same light switch connection.

Are the bulbs led, compact fluorescent or filament?

Any heavy loads on at the same time eg electric shower?

Have you tried swapping the bulbs around?  You can get occasional flickers when bulbs are approaching end-of-life - if you put one (or more) of the suspect bulbs in other fittings (ideally on a different circuit) then you'll get a better idea whether it is the bulb or the wiring which is the problem.

LED. No and I live alone so there's rarely much electricity being used at once. Usually the surges happen when only the TV is on (it's a large screen but only 2 years old).

Good shout although they've been doing this since about 6 months after they were fitted. Will try it out.

That said, the fact a ceiling lamp and a separate wall lamp are both flickering suggests it's likely to be the wiring.

Do all three bulbs flicker in this chandelier?
What do you mean by 'same light switch connection'? A twin switch faceplate? Is the other also a dimmer?
