Royal Mail Delivery misinformation? Failed delivery at 9:34 PM!!!

Hi all,

Royal Mail informed us they were delivering a 24 delivery parcel (so signed for) on 2.12.24 between 7:30am and 7:30pm. So stayed in all day. Dog and doorbell fully functioning. Also, I have ‘bat-ears’. Ie I can hear an ant crawling over cotton wool.

So, rather surprised that nothing came. No dog barking. No knocking at the door. No doorbell ringing in their generous 12 hour ‘window’. No camera updates. No ‘bat-ears’ ringing…

So, at 9:34 PM (yes 21:34) they had supposedly tried to deliver. No one came. Still waiting for them even then as no updates?!! So this is simply not true.

They've blamed us, the customer, when it’s obvious they’ve failed. Umm, is this so they keep their extra fee for next day signed for 24? This is really disgraceful in my opinion. ‘Delivery Attempted’ total BS. 5 meters from the door all day! It looks like a ‘get-out’ as they failed to meet their obligation.

Royal Mail. Stop blaming your customers for your failures.

Was this a special delivery guaranteed item or just a 1st class or RM24 signed for? The first is a guaranteed service and should be fully tracked and is worth putting a formal complaint in about, RM24 and 1 st are not guaranteed and you’ll probably be fobbed off.

So when this happens, it usually means they got to the end of the day and had a few parcels left to deliver. They go back to the depot and scan them all as "no one home". Pretty much all the couriers do it at this time of the year.

I had a message to say parcel delivered. No trace anywhere.
Next day my regular postie turned up with it!

Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

Had similar the other day, got notification parcel delivered while we were out (EBay purchase). No sign of it when got home.  There was even a photo recorded as proof (was just a blur).  On enquiry, 4 other people had deliveries recorded at the same time without actually receiving anything.
Several hours later postie turns up with the actual parcel.  Got a new delivery notification and photo, postie feigned ignorance.  But I think fairly obvious was scanned when loaded onto back of the van.
