Urgent Help with Boiler Leak Solutions and Insurance

Hi all,

I’m dealing with a leaking boiler, and it’s causing a bit of stress. A plumber inspected it and mentioned that parts might need replacing, but I haven’t received a clear update yet.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? What’s the best way to approach this if I’m struggling to find a reliable plumber? Should I consider shutting off the gas or water temporarily?

Also, I’m interested in boiler insurance that can help fix this issue and provide cover for at least the next 12 months. If anyone has recommendations or experience with reliable plans, I’d love to hear about them.

Any advice or solutions would be much appreciated.

Firstly forget about insurance, no company will cover a boiler that already has a fault.

Going forward, to insure a boiler it will need to be serviced, fault free and there may be an age limit.

Get a Gas Safe engineer as soon as possible, preferably one that specialises in your make, they'll advise if you can continue to use it safely before it is repaired.

Worcester Bosch (I have one) used to offer one-off repairs for a fixed price if not on a service plan but it was not cheap.

Your local council may have a list of trusted traders.  But beware of other sites...

Some will (being liberal with the insurance bit) in the same way as you say Worcester Bosch offers a fixed price repair, they basically add the fixed price repair cost and service plan cost together and take off a small discount for doing the two together.

Where do you live, maybe someone can recommend a good plumber? I can certainly recommend someone based in Lincoln.
