Hitching a Ride on a WIRELESS HOTSPOT

Hi people,

It's me again the Freebie Lady!! Okay all, I have a laptop with wireless capability. It does pick up few wireless broadband in range and with no security lock for access, it is able to connect to this unknown network of whom I do not know who owns it. IT SAYS connected but when I try to suf the web, it says " Page can not be displayed" why is this and why can;t I hitch a ride on the free roaming ISP aviable broadband with good signal hur?? Why can't I? I even get assigned an IP address but I still can not see the web!!
Yea Yeah I know I should go and get my own ISP instead of trying to hitch a ride on someonelses but hey, if the SIGNAL comes in to my AIR SIGNAL space, which it does, then I am sure TAKING IT for a RIDE okay which is what it is there for. So comeon techi guys what configuration on my laptop should I tweak so I can see the web when I am conected to this SPACE INVADER ROUGH FREE BROADBAND SIGNAL. Also, I can get a buster I hear, so my laptop can pick even more and acurate signal, which one of these busters should I get to pick up even better signal as well!! Nice erh!!

Power and Freedom to the people!!:A

Maybe they are only allowing on computers which match the list of MAC addresses they have added.

It's also illegal to use someone else's wireless connection without their consent - though I'm sure you knew that.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

No it isn't there for you to decide to use and what you're wanting to do is THIEVE someone elses bandwidth. In fact, it's actually a CRIMINAL OFFENCE under the COMPUTER MISUSE ACT 1990 to do what you're wanting to do.

So I take it you also think that you should be entitled to rip off Sky TV for the same reason and also not have a TV licence, again for the same reasons that the signals come into your space?

    Thieving cow.

Sorry, I have to agree with the others here, it's actually illegal to use other's wireless connection, I remember reading somewhere that someone was prosecuted not long ago. You'll have to do what the rest of us do, pay!!:p

The network that you have found might not be connected to the internet but as others have said it's not yours so get your own!

It's illegal and there have been cases of conviction in the UK for doing it

    For Example

yea, I know - we had passwords set up in our flat, but there were deffo several other flats which hadn't (my old windows phone could detect them when I tried searching for my flat's wifi in my room). but its was annoying every time I left my flat, having to step over these morons and their gear all over the floor. and I'm not being funny or anything, but if you can afford a brand new apple powerbook (like one had) I'm sure you can stump up the cash for an internet connection.
