Hi - I've studied the newbie thread and just wanted to post the situation for a bit more clarity.
Received NTK on 29.11 saying issued on 20.11 in relation to 'Failure to Pay for Full Duration of Stay'
My son was driving for the first time from home in North West to Portsmouth - some journey. He sensibly stopped at midnight (1 second before on the ANPR) and stayed in the quiet Travelodge Peartree Oxford car park dor 17 minutes. This was a rest after 3 hours motorway driving and he stayed in the vehicle planning the rest of his journey. He is in year 1 of driving and has a black box.
He didn't see the signs or if he did he assumed they were intended for hotel guests - which he wasn't.
Do I try plan A and contact Travelodge - despite not being a guest?
My natural instinct is to appeal with the truth - young driver taking a legitimate safety stop for just 17 minutes in the middle of the night in line with Highway code but from the threads seems pointless?
Use the Blue template in the 2024 newbies thread?
I'd appreciate any thoughts on this one 🤞

Stories and truth is pointless, just gives them more ammunition to say that the PCN was correctly issued, plus the highway code applies to the public highway not private property , so he should have parked on the public road
Are you the Registered Keeper or your son. ?
If you are not the RK then he would be dealing with it, not you, you are a stranger to the alleged breach of the parking contract, no more creedence than me, no legal authority
If you are the RK, check the NTK PCN letter for full compliance with POFA 20123 -

The keeper appeals. BUT NOT USING THE BLUE TEMPLATE. Just use the paragraph seen in all Horizon threads about the POFA.
Why didn't he just stop on a side street? Anywhere on the public highway (off the motorway or slip road of course) would always be fine - save for a red route, bus stop, taxi stand etc - and safe from ANPR monitoring.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I am the registered keeper- I wonder if given the time of night and no context of position of the vehicle is provided if I can request proof if lit signage0

No need, if you are the registered keeper and are not willing to name the driver, use the POFA template seen in other horizon threads on here, appealing as keeper
No blabbing about who was driving or about the incident itself
Please educate your son into using public highways, not private property, in the future ( cameras are everywhere. )1 -
Again, no.How_Now123 said:I am the registered keeper- I wonder if given the time of night and no context of position of the vehicle is provided if I can request proof if lit signageDO NOT TRY TO APPEAL LIKE THAT.
Use the standard 'non-POFA / I wasn't driving' paragraph recently seen in Horizon threads.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
