You are not really helping yourself by the way, you’re thinking about this though, Because to an outside observer, it looks as if you’re getting yourself on your high horse a little bit. Drug dealers? Really?

Which is putting barriers in the way to actually starting to deal with it. The fine art of compromise and  all that?

It’s okay your neighbour talking about Orbit trying to scare you, and yes that is part of the reason of the letter, to prod you into action, but they’re not the ones who were going to end up in court unnecessarily if they carry on digging their heels in.
however, unfair you feel this is, and however different to the council this is the reality that you are in now and you can’t do an ostrich impression and hope it will go away. Talk to them about what you can afford.
If you want more advice about this, have you tried the law centre? They do have a bit of a waiting list though.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • KxMx I had a read of your link. The info is clearly laid out. It clearly says that government and citizens are reviewing things. In my view it is not worth the wory yet. My recollection about this having recently spoken to Orbit/ my landlords is that the one off cost to correct things for the next several years  for my single person flat would be £ 9=88 or just under £ 10.

Looking back at your previous threads you seem to have been ranting about Orbit for one reason or another for years.

You say they wont talk to you or be reasonable but perhaps if you have spoken to them, in the same way you have spoken about them, they are not responsive to you.

Either way you need to sort out the rent one way or another and burying your head in the sand and ranting about them on here wont help.  You are in secure housing which many people would love to be in so dont risk losing it by being awkward about sorting out the rent. It is due so you need to pay it or discuss the options with Orbit.

It's December 2024, the 53 week rent year April 2024- April 2025 is happening and will be/has been applied to social housing rent accounts.
UC will only pay 52 weeks.

Citizens Advice campaign on many issues, doesn't mean it will change anything on this case.

I would suggest an attitude change in certain quarters would be very helpful.
