Dry ridge system query

I've had a new roof fitted and was told I'd be supplied with a new dry ridge system. Should this have included new ridges? The roofer has used most of my existing ridges. New ones have been put in where the old ones have cracked when stripping the roof. Should I query this or do most roofers use old ridges?

In my experience, the default is that if the quote doesn't specify any new materials for a building element, then the old materials will be reused.

In situations such as yours, I would have expected the quote to confirm that it included the supply of any additional ridge tiles to make up the ridge. This would have left no room for doubt that the existing ridge tiles would be used for the majority of the work.

I don't think the roofer has done anything out of the ordinary in reusing the existing ridge tiles. It looks like they have done quite a good job, but the arrangement of ridge tiles at the apex of the hip looks like an area of weakness. It should have a proper, and very expensive, apex cap. You could feedback to the roofer that you would have liked to have had to option to pay more to get all new ridge tiles and proper apex caps; you will need to tell him this when he is standing on the ground as you don't want him to fall of your new roof!
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Thanks for your help. Do you think the roof is sound without the need of the apex cap?
