Morning all. Woke to grey skies this morning but happily no frost and it's forecast to be a bit milder for a couple of days. There's a couple of red kites out early doors and circling above - I can hear their squeaky whistles too.
Thanks for the start @Gers, I hope you get to enjoy the scenic drive and have a happy hair day.
Hope DH is feeling a bit more comfortable today @RosyRed. It's not good having to lie on your back if that's not your normal sleep position.
I managed to do a half-hearted clean up in the bedroom yesterday and I'll finish it off today. I think the unexpected call from the FD put me off my stride and sent my brain back into (s)admin mode.
Most of the afternoon was spent contacting various utilities to get my name put on bills etc and sending documents to those who've asked for them, so it's a question of waiting for them now to do whatever needs to be done. All done online/via email apart from Yorks Water who have a ring-back service that's booked for lunchtime today. I've also applied for Pension Credit.
It's a good job I didn't want to watch anything on any of the ITV channels last night as the reception is up the spout - again. Anyone who remembers the Wheel Tappers' & Shunters' comedy programme (showing my age) will know what I mean! I've done a re-tune and checked for any possible transmitter work (none) but to no avail. Maybe it's the weather conditions, our transmitter is Emley Moor that is very, very high up!
Easy tea tonight with a piece of lightly fried fresh cod and bread & butter, chocolate mousse for afters. I might make a curry for tomorrow.
Hope everyone's day goes well, hugs where needed or wanted. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning all@YorksLass Coincidence or what you mentioning Wheeltappers and Shunters Club. I saw elsewhere that they are putting this on Talking Pictures TV Channel on Sunday as I'd put a reminder on my phone to record it. Wonder if it's stood the test of time?Frosty when I got up but it had thawed by the time I went out to do my food shopping.Nothing else on the cards today apart from seeing if I can get a bargain online for a new hoover.Hope all the little 'uns are feeling betterHave a good day all x10

Morning all, enjoy your drive @Gers - hope you get to see Arran. We had nice pink/orange clouds at sunrise but now the same as you TA.I made breakfast in bed for DH, unfortunately @YorksLass he had another disturbed night due to being on his back, but thank you. He's now sat in a chair in front of the window, meds taken so hopefully his mood will improve.Snoozer hope the children improve, & I bet York is lovely pre-Christmas.I have a lovely assortment of birds at the bird table, including a robin with a very red chest.Hopefully, I'll get to finish writing my cards soon, then I can hand them out to any visitors who might call, although DH doesn't want any yet.Mehefin, bet Hele is glad to have you to turn to for horsey adviceRight, better get doing something, take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Hello all, I'm a bit late but we have been out this morning. Three surgeries visited (should have been 2, don't ask long story) then on to the village pharmacy and then next door to the coop for a loaf. I haven't been in the coop for ages and it's the only food shop in the village. It still isn't very well stocked with lots of gaps on the shelves and it reminded me why I don't normally go there but go to the shop further down the hill.
Yesterday the banana cake turned out lovely and I even covered it with chocolate before sampling. Bang goes the diet and I was doing quite well.
I also had a panicked phone call from Dad to say his mobile phone wasn't working, er yes it is you're speaking to me on it. Then it was "well there's a red button which keeps appearing and when I press it the phone goes off", it was the hang up button. Thankfully he still has his landline for back up which he can use. I'll ring him in a bit to see if he wants to add anything else to his shopping list before I submit it online, hopefully he's a bit more with it today, because he's worrying me.
I haven't read the thread this morning so I'll do that now. Hope everyone is ok, hugs if not.

Afternoon all,
Despite getting up at 6.30am to make a travel mug of tea for DD who was driving into work, the morning seems to have run away with me. I've made a ragu base for lasagne which is now in the slow cooker. Will make the bechamel sauce later and cook through. It's for BFF and her hubby who are visiting tomorrow - always better the next day. I've also hung some washing on the line as it's quite bright here, and finally I've been for a run down the lane and back. It's downhill on the way there but a slow climb on the return, which I found a bit challenging. Good to get back into it though.
Canterbury was good - met up with DS2 for some street food, and took advantage of a couple of offers in Fenw!ck and Boot$. Also purchased a couple of artisan items on the Christmas market. I've done an online order for a couple of bits for DD too, so feel I'm making some progress.
Hope the craft fayre goes well @AlwaysAllie
Happy new hair day @Gers
Enjoy DD's birthday celebrations @RedRuby1231 x
Hope the GC are feeling well enough for the cinema @snoozer x
Have a good day all

Good afternoon, blue skies and sunny but chilly.
Had a long call from my DD this morning. Dgd returned to school Sunday afternoon but was sent home Tuesday lunchtime with a hacking cough which has now gone around the family. But the good news is that the school seems to be making a real effort to improve things for her, let's hope it lasts. Not such good news is that her GP believes what happened caused a breakdown. At 12 years old! Lets hope its onward and upwards from now on.
Ifits for dinner tonight, turkey stew. I was starting to see a few gaps in the freezer until I got 2 packs of half price rolls yesterday. Have made a bread pudding with some.
Ruby, belated happy birthday to your DD
Rosy, best wishes for your DH
Nanny, I'm sorry but I had a laugh about your dad and his mobile. My dmum once told me she couldn't ring me on my mobile as she didn't know where I was.
Take care all and keep warm.12 -
Remmie - it's good to hear the school are making an effort to improve things for your grand daughter.
When my dad was in hospital recently, I really needed to speak to mam and tried ringing her on her mobile several times - eventually I rang the ward and asked the nurse who answered to tell her to take her phone out of her bag!9
