Money Claims Case Issued Against Me

Hi All,
I have been issued a money claims case against me from an accident that happened on 29/05/2021.
On the above date the driver was stationary at a roundabout and so was I. They began to pull off and then suddenly braked causing me to very slightly bump into the back of the persons car.
Unfortunately the screw from my number plate had lodged into the persons back bumper, as the damage was very minimal we decided to exchange details and said we would message to come to an agreement.
The person was then wanting to get a whole brand new bumper and respray, she was giving me quotes well in excess of £1000. As we couldnt come to an agreement I stopped replying and assumed that everything would go through our insurances as I'm sure she would have had to ring her insurance about this matter.
The car I was driving was my fathers, but I was covered under my Admiral policy for third party.
On 30/10/2022 my father received a notification from LV insurance of claim against him due to this accident, im guessing because he was the registered keeper and main driver on this insurance. As soon as he received this I contacted LV myself to explain the situation and that I would now be contacting Admiral whom I was covered with at the time of the collision to let them know the situation and I would like open a claim of fault against myself in regards to this collision.
On 16/11/2022: I finally received an email with an attachment from Admiral saying that a claim has been opened in regards to this accident and after that I didn't have any more correspondence from Admiral or the third party involved and their insurance company. As I thought the insurance companies would sort it out between them?
I have proof of the above letter on 16/11/2022 saying that I contacted Admiral and the claim was opened. I also have another email from Admiral stating my no claims bonus is 0 years and it lists this accident.
Now I have received this money claims case against myself. They are claiming for vehicle repairs of £1624 and a hire car £243 totalling £1867, they also want 8% interest on top of this from the date the accident happened at £519 and a claim fee of £115...totalling the amount of the claim at £2502!!
Please can someone advise how I move forward with this as I genuinely thought my insurance company and the third party insurance company would sort this between themselves.
Could I fight against the unreasonable vehicle repair cost of £1624 with proof of pictures of the damage with a small screw in the bumper and also proof that I had notified my insurance to have a claim open for when the third parties insurance contacted mine. PS I did also give the drivers details to my insurance so they could have also reached out themselves too.
I have until 4pm on 12/12/2024 to reply to this claim online, there is no way I can afford to have a solicitor represent me on this either.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Thank you

I'd forward the claim to your insurance company and ask them to deal with it and/or query why they hadn't already done so.0

The claims are always eg Smith v Jones, even if in reality it’s the insurance companies running the show. So the writ is served on you, you pass it to your insurers, and they sort it out.0

Pass it to Admiral to deal with.0
