DVLA and Royal Mail tracking

I am about to send an application for photocard licence (I had paper licence which now needs a medical code) and the form tells me that they return my identity documents by second post and they recommend that I enclosed a stamped self addressed special delivery or signed for envelope with my application.  My question is does anyone have experience of this as I seem to remember the last time I bought a tracked service online I only had 5 days to use it.  Does the DVLA send the documents back on receipt?

Hi, 
Go to the Post Office and ask for a prepaid Special Delivery envelope, it will cost £8.35 for up to 100grams in weight.
Write your address on it and send it to DVLA with your documents, don't have them returned via Signed for as this service does not come with any tracking and a minimal amount of compensation should they go missing (£20).
Royal mail tracking purchased online does come with a time limit and DVLA depending on how busy they are will unlikely return on receipt.

Signed for is a waste of money. DVLA do not sign for anything. PO depot just bulk signs for them. Still plenty of time to get lost.
No large organization or post office have staff to wait & sign for the thousands they get each day..

Just send as requested & get proof of posting.
