Incorrect vehicle details on car database

Hi - hoping someone out there can help please.
A couple of days ago I attempted to p/x my car. Dealer was unable to match my vehicle/spec to anything on their databases (they use Glass and CAP). They got close but details don't match so they won't proceed with p/x. Glass suggested I contact DVLA. Spoken to DVLA - they are happy that my V5 is accurate (which it is) and they told me that DVLA don't supply info to car databases anyhow. I need to figure out how to get these databases to accurately reflect the spec of my car. Any thoughts please people?
Thank you

Give us a clue? What car/Age? What spec do you think it is and what do the DVLA have it recorded as?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...1

If the info on the V5C is accurate, and the info on the dealer's database is incorrect, then the issue is not DVLA, but the database supplier.
But at the end of the day, you are not trying to change the database - but simply persuade one particular dealer to buy your car. If they don't want to, then sell it to somebody who will.

Thanks - I think my aim is to try and change the database. It's inaccurate and preventing me from p/x for the car that I want. Other dealers have matched it correctly but not through Glass. Other dealers don't have the car I'm looking for. Don't think persuading will work. Dealers won't take my car because if he does, he's faced with same problem as me.
So I do need to change details on Glass to get the car I want, from the dealer I want to buy from.
Frustrating. But thanks for taking the time to reply and help.0 -

You are not helping anyone to help you. Stop being vague.
What exactly is the problem?
Sometimes when dealers register a car with the DVLA they put in incorrect information that doesn't exactly line up with the manufacturers description. Sometimes for example they register it with some special edition model that is unique to them and not a manufacturer name. This will never be in the Glass database.
If the VIN is checked with the manufacturer then usually the correct model is identified.
The fact that the V5 does not exactly match a model in the Glass guide is pretty irrelevant and anyone working in the industry can use common sense and the VIN / manufacturer information to identify it and match it to the right one.
The dealer is the problem and you are not going to get either database changed if that is the issue. They will just have to use common sense, as other dealers have and is used for the thousands of cars that have this issue every year.
Give the dealer the ultimatum, sort it or you walk.

as another dealer has found it it could be an issue with that specific dealer

Glass's Guide is just a publication that is no different to consulting a motoring magazine, it has no relevence as to what your actual vehicle is. The clue is in the word "guide". A friend works in the motoring trade and would give me the GG price for my car before going to a dealer for a trade-in, it was amusing to see the dealer fumbling with the GG under his desk while I said the value would be £xxxx. At the moment it is a buyers market, dealers are keen to shift vehicles this close to Christmas when many potential buyers are more interested in mortgage payments, the cost of energy and presents for relatives and friends. As others have said walk away and see if they really want your business.0

Could be that dealer is just making a excuse, as they do not want your car.Life in the slow lane0

Maybe Cupboard100's problem is similar to mine - I recently spent 4 months getting the DVLA to change the model details for my vehicle on the V5C as they have been incorrect since new (14 years ago!). VW took an age to provide the info that DVLA needed, but i've finally got a new V5C with the correct vehicle model details on it.
However, on all the car checker sites, insurance comparison etc. it still comes up with the old model details. I've emailed the SMMT (after doing a lot of googling) to ask them to update it but they just ignore my emails.
Maybe this is the case for the OP?
And does anybody know how I can get this changed for my vehicle?0 -
