WIFI Internet speed on a HP laptop 15-BW-069

You won't have been using all of the bandwidth to load a web page, so the limit will have been the device. So you wouldn't see a difference there.
What you should see is that you can do more in parallel now, maxing out the Laptop will mean that other device can still get the bandwidth it needs for streaming.
So more devices in parallel is going to be your main advantage.
Mind you the Vodafone wifi router is not the best out there if you are not right next to it.1 -
Seems like I have misunderstood this whole "speed" thing ☹️
There's only 2 of us in the house, so only 2 devices, max, any one time. No gaming.
Is it likely that dongle mentioned earlier will help on the laptop? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.52% of current retirement "pot" (as at end October 2024)0 -

What would you recommend I upgrade too, without it being much bigger in the hand/pocket.
What processor should I look for?
(Goes to check current spec...)
ETA - 4.0 GB of RAM, is that what matters? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.52% of current retirement "pot" (as at end October 2024)0 -
I think my current phone spec is...
- Hardware
- Qualcomm SDM450 Snapdragon 450 Chipset
- Octa-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU
- Adreno 506 GPU
So what do I need to look out for when buying a replacement that's going to load web pages quicker?
What about this spec...- Hardware
- Unisoc T606 (12 nm) chipset
- Dual-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A75, Hexa-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A55 CPU
- Mali-G57 MP1 GPU
PS - sorry @WhoisDannie for hijacking your thread. Hope you find the information usefulHow's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.52% of current retirement "pot" (as at end October 2024)0 -
Peter999_2 said:Unfortunately your laptop only has a Wireless N card installed which severly restricts your maximum speed. The only way to increase it is to replace the wireless card, if this is even possible. It could be that even if it has a wireless card that can be replaced it might only have one aerial instead of two.
Personally, if it was me, instead of replacing the Wifi card I would be buying a USB Wifi dongle instead, something like the below :
TP-Link AC1300 Nano Wireless MU-MIMO USB 2.0 Adapter, Dual-Band, Miniature Design, Supports Windows 10/8.1/8/7, Mac OS 10.15 and earlier, Highly Secure WPA3, Easy Setup (Archer T3U Nano) : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories
Well I bought this for my laptop, and it came today. I installed it and it made no difference whatsoever to my internet speeds.
I don't know if I've done anything wrong?. But I didn't work for me. If anything, it was showing SLOWER speeds with it installed.
However, I will definitely look to upgrade my mobile phone. It was my birthday recently after all. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.52% of current retirement "pot" (as at end October 2024)0 -
To make sure you are getting best performance....a bit of detective work?See my earlier post regarding WiFi analysis.....Or just ignore. Up to you.Example of simple graphical display below. Graphical selection is for 2.4GHz bands. Note BT router signal is very good and there is no other signal on channel 6 so good reception . However current selection is in 5GHz band that could be displayed by selection and that gives 390Mbps WIFI co ne tion to router... and that is from a broadband that is nominal 36Mbps down speed.WiFi will not be significantly affecting overall speed from web to device.0

Thanks for that, but sorry, that's too much tech speak for me.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.52% of current retirement "pot" (as at end October 2024)0

@Sea_Shell you could open a terminal window (windows key and r and type terminal and enter’
Then enter netsh wlan show interfaces
like this
Radio type 802.11 ac, band 5 ghz, rates and signal strength.
Of course the speed of drawing a web page is down to your browser and you pc graphics and cpu.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 + Octopus Flux leccy0
