Paying off a PCP early - interest charges
I recently bought a new car (6 months old) from a Volvo dealer. £35990. I put £11k down as a deposit and the £24990 financed using a PCP over 3 years at a monthly cost of £354.95.
21 days later I decided that it would be prudent to settle the PCP and own the car outright and I applied for a settlement figure.
Volvo financial Services have given me a settlement date of the 17/01/2025 and are trying to charge me £723.15 in interest charges effectively 80 days of interest at approx £9 per day.
I paid the sum of £24990 on 21st November so I have calculated the interest outstanding to be £207 approx.
For some reason Volvo Financial Services are seemingly unable to calculate a settlement figure based on the date the payment is made not one 53 days in advance?
I would like to know where I stand if they insist that I still owe £723.15.
thanks

You asked for the settlement after 21 days, so there's 21 days interest there.
They can legally charge 56 days interest on the settlement figure.
So 21+ 56.
What is the interest rate on the loan?

What was the APR?
What does your agreement say about early settlement and interest - normally 58 days interest can be charged on early settlement.1 -
they are just quoting CC (early settlement) regulations 2004. and it looks like they are entitled to 58 days interest
unfortunately. However I did get 2 years additional warranty and 2 services which is worth more then the £700 so maybe not so bad?0 -
