If OP is not using Apple Pay, or buying apps. Then you do not need to enter any card details. When setting up ID
Apple Pay is completely separate to the App Store.
Can tell i don't use apple. Daughter does, but refuses to link a card when setting it up,

  • If the child is 7 shouldn’t Apple be refunding these transactions?

If it isn’t the child shouldn’t the bank be pulling them back as fraud?

It sounds most unlikely to me that the 7 year old is responsible.

OP, is there anyone who prehaps has a grudge against you? Ex partner or similar?

I once tried to watch a TV series called "The Block" that was protected by paywall and did a free trial, but it didn't work as you weren't allowed to watch in the UK. I thought no more of it. A year or two later on a new phone (also Apple) I finally got round to adding a payment card, and blow me, they took a subscription of 99p (I think) - a quick call to apple who confirmed I'd never watched anything or subscribed to anything else and they refunded. I remembered later trying to watch "The Block" and I bet that was it, the call handler did ask several times If I had set up a trial on a paid subscription TV service, and I kept saying no - although of course I had tried but so long ago I'd forgotten.

If child is that age then yes.

As to bank, if op is also using apple then there is doubt, as treating as fraud. Will see apple block account. Could also be bank staff know the description & subscription so will not treat as fraud, depending on what Op says.

I think it depends if the parent properly protected their account details to prevent unauthorised use for Apple to refund. The first one they might, but for it to happen repeatedly they may argue you authorised it by not securing the password.

Its not the childs phone, its the adult who's phone it is that is entering into the contract. The terms of the agreement are that if you allow others to use your phone to subscribe to apps/services you not they liable to pay... if you could counter claim off your friend/child etc is another matter.  If you dont want to give them permission to subscribe you to stuff, dont give them your phone and certainly dont give them your password/code/unlock payments for them

Its no different to giving your kid your credit card to go buy sweeties from the shop and them deciding they arent going to spend their £1 pocket money on two things but buy a sack load. Your bank wouldn't count that as fraud.
