My MIL has recently had to move to a residential care home. They have asked for both the LPAs (H & W) + (P & F). Is that usual?
Thank you in advance

Not unusual, I did this when my mother went into care and I would think it strange if they didn’t.0

Absolutely usual to need evidence there are LPAs, yes.Because some people say they have power of attorney when actually they only have the financial one. Or don’t have one at all.
Everyone involved with the person needs to be very clear on what powers of attorney are in place and what for so that when decisions have to be made, for example about medical treatment, there is no confusion about who the decision maker is.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Agree, perfectly usual.
If there's anything you don't understand, or don't know, please just ask, and keep asking until you get an answer you understand. The problem with this situation is that you don't know what you don't know until you find you don't know it. The home, meanwhile, have done this over and over again, and know exactly what they're doing, and assume you do too.
Also make sure that you / MIL communicate about what she can and can't do, and might or might not enjoy doing. To be fair it was not long after the height of Covid when we went through this, but we weren't given a booklet about how things 'worked' on admission - there should have been one in the room, but it wasn't there, and we didn't know it should be there, so it was only when we were asking some very very basic questions that this lack was noticed.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Many thanks for your advice. She seems to have settled well and it’s within walking distance so is very convenient for visiting 😀1

Just checking it's not one of the care homes that still like you to pre-book visits in advance (a hangover from covid, unfortunately.)
I tend to just turn up in passing anyway, and if they try to turn me away query why with the manager and then raise with CQC. That's as a professional but I would do the same as a family member as well. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

No visiting is open apart from meal times 😀0
