Building Insurance Subsidence

We bought our house in 2005. The previuos owners had had some subsidence issues. They were given the choice of removing the trees that caused the issue or having hte house underpinned, and chose to have the house underpinned. Yes, we knew this when we bought it and we have continuted to have building insurance with the same provider they did. This year it has gone up to around 3x what it was in previous years.
My question is, does subsidence history every expire?
Since buying the house we have removed the offending trees. We have also extended the house next to where the house was underpinned. The extension had extra deep foundations put in place due to the history of underpinning. We have lived in this house for 20 years and have had no further issues.
On this basis coud we go to the insurer and discuss removing the subsidence penalty?

Insurance costs have gone up this year anyway, have you shopped around?
You just have to answer everything truthfully so that might include still disclosing the history of subsidence.

You have to answer each question asked fully and accurately. The majority ask if the property has ever had signs of subsidence so to those you have to say yes. There are a smaller number that say in 10 years or such in which case to those you can say noMcFishie said:We bought our house in 2005. The previuos owners had had some subsidence issues.
