I'm only looking within 10 miles of me, and are probably in an expensive area which may be swaying things.
There are 456,000 cars on Autotrader nationally. 65 of them are within 10 miles of me - and that's before even taking price into account.
Cars are very easily portable.Here is a typical example though -
OK, that's the wrong end of the market to be looking at Autotrader. Try Gumtree or FB marketplace.
Car on sale on autotrader for £1,995 (private seller)
Parkers value at between £660 and £1125 - WBAC value at £740
I've looked at 2 or 3 now on Autotrader that have been similar to this
But if that car at £2k is overpriced, he's not going to sell it quickly. If you think it's worth buying at £1,200, offer him £1,200 and see what he replies. I suspect you will receive two word directions.
You can identify the ad publish date of any Autotrader ad really easily...
Look at the start of the ad ID in the URL
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202411276792956
20241127 = 27th November 2024, yesterday. VERY unlikely to take an offer.
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202403047192885
20240304 = 4th March 2024. Almost certain to bite your hand off.1 -

For sub £3,000 cars there are 10 times as many local to me as Autotrader and at far lower prices0 -

Just look at how long the car has been for sale & it's price history on autotrader..
WBAC valuations are pointless when looking for a car.Life in the slow lane0
