Ignoring a DRP for a parking fine from Smart parking

Options
So I recently recieved a notice from debt recovery services for a parking infraction. I was not even aware that I had recieved a ticket (they never placed a ticket, it was an automatic one), so I literally had no way to even be aware that I had to pay the original fine.

So originally they sent a £100 fine that was increased from 30 because I hadn’t paid the first ticket (I was not aware of this), so I went to go appeal to smart parking. I then recieved the latest letter for £170, despite me having it in writing on email that any payments needed would be paused from the automatic email you get after appealing. I still have not recieved any decisions on the appeal, so I feel like it is incredibly unfair to go from 30 pounds to 170 due to their error.

do I just ignore it? The forum talks about ignoring it until next year, but the posts I saw that said this were from 2021 to even this year, so I am not sure if that new law has passed yet. What do I do? This is my first and only parking ticket, and I live in Scotland.

If the vehicle is registered to a Scottish address, Plan A is a complaint from the keeper to the landowner and the keeper's MSP. Other than that, it is safe to ignore.

Do note that this will change, probably next year.

Just make sure that the driver's identity is never revealed, (although a PPC won't pursue an individual PCN in Scotland because it will cost them money because they have to pay their own expenses).

You should also check that the keeper's details are correct on the V5C. If not, they should change them, which you can do on the DVLA website. They should also instruct the DPO of the PPC to erase the keeper's data and replace it with their current address for service.

Yep. What you DON'T do is tell them who was driving.  You'll never pay this.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
