The floppy disc drive no longer works in a vintage interactive music midi machine called a "Korg i5M".  Does anyone know how the music on floppy discs which were originally used in this machine could still be used with this machine?

Would a "Nalbantov USB Floppy Disk Drive Emulator N-Drive 100 for Korg i5S, i5M, IX300" work instead and if so how?  Are there any options to get the floppy discs which once played in this machine to be heard via it again, ie an external drive / pen?

Have you looked on ebay for a replacement drive for the i5m? Failing that, Reverb.Com. Also i would recommend joining a korg forum. You will get the answer there, be it an emulator, another device or a replacement.

    Thank you for your reply!!

A few i5m have been purchased from eBay but none work and had to be returned.

I didn't think it would be possible to get a replacement drive since floppy disk drives are so old?!?!

Looked Reverb.com, which I never heard of before, and they don't have anything but thank you for the suggestion.

This is for someone else and they have persistently been in contact with me, they seem to think I have a magic wand,  and I can get nothing done because of them!!
  • That looks like a standard internal 3.5" PC drive from back in the day... you can buy a new one here for £44 if you feel up to a DIY repair?

I added it to the basket but then when I went to see if it would let me check out it wanted my email address which I then had to verify.  After I successfully verified my email address it wanted me to verify with an SMS code but it does not recognise Northern Ireland or the UK so I don't know what I am doing wrong or whether they do not deliver to these regions?!?!
