Group Travel Policy

Hi, we are trying abroad next Summer, 2 families who aren't related. I have been unable to find cover from any insurance company who would cover cancellation charges if something happened to one of the families close relatives, for the other family. Seems crazy that you can't get this type of cover, the other family won't want to travel if we weren't able to go as we are staying with our relatives, not theirs! Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks in advance

Have you booked as a group or both separate?
I can’t see many insurers wanting to take on that level of risk. There’s too many variables for them

There's a significant chance that something happens to either a relative in your family or a relative in the other family, so you can understand why insurers wouldn't want to cover this. But do you really need cover? If something happens within the other family, I can't see why you can't go ahead with visiting your relatives in Spain? If something happens within your family then I can appreciate why the other family won't want to stay with your relatives, but surely they could find alternative accommodation in Spain for those dates?0

A single group policy should cover you, other than for pre-existing conditions of non-travelling close family0

I appreciate this but thought this would be the point of a group policy?cw8825 said:Have you booked as a group or both separate?

I can't find a company which offers a group policy which would cover this hence my question? ThanksDullGreyGuy said:A single group policy should cover you, other than for pre-existing conditions of non-travelling close family0 -
It would be quicker to list those that dont cover it... maybe you are getting confused by the definition of "You/Your" in the policies? In most cases it will be anyone covered by the insurance so when it says "Your Close Relatives" in the cancellation clause it means the close family of anyone covered by the policy. Part of the limitation of the English language of not having a different word for you singular and you plural.PurplePeregrine said:Mark_d said:There's a significant chance that something happens to either a relative in your family or a relative in the other family, so you can understand why insurers wouldn't want to cover this.
