That is whole point of nuisance call blockers, they let real callers through.

As I said before, they are just not being publicised.

It seems the media is quite happy to prop up this state of affairs.

I'm not an iPhone user so don't which apps are any good unfortunately. Apple say there are multiple apps available https://support.apple.com/en-us/111106.

I'm on Android and still waiting for Google to release automatic Call Screening for non-US later Pixel users of Google Phone, where you can see a live transcript of your phone intercepting calls from unknown/suspicious/first time callers.
