Gaps around UPVC window

Hi, I’ve started to strip some mouldy sealant around our bathroom windows prior to redecorating and as I’ve pulled out the old sealant have uncovered some larger than expected gaps between the plaster and the window frame. Note the very bottom section that I will pull out and refill.
Does anybody have any suggestions on the best product to use to fill the gap?
I have some deep gap polyfilla, but have read elsewhere that using expanding foam and then a polyfilla skim might give a better finish?

Foam filler. 👍
Spray a bit of water in the gap 1st. Gives the foam something to bind on.Life in the slow lane1 -
Expanding foam - Use a gun rather than those nasty cans with a bit of plastic pipe on the end. You'll get far better control with the gun. Shove a nozzle from a cartridge of mastic/sealant on the end of the gun, and you'll be able to get the foam right in to the dark depths of the gap. Don't squirt too much in. You only need a little squirt.Get a cheap gun from ebay or amazon for ~£5 - They are next to impossible to clean out thoroughly, so I treat them as disposable.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
Protect the frame with masking tape. Nail varnish remover helps clean it off.1
