Its that time of year where you go through finding the best sim only deal. If you are just buying a sim only deal esp for a paltry £8 / month why the need for a hard credit search? Why can't they let people have the option of paying the £96 upfront and set a bar on account spending to mitigate the need for a hard credit search. seems like a total overkill. Oh and just to add insult you pay the first months contract in advance so why the need for this? Something needs to be done!!!!

Simple answer take out a Pay As You Go sim.
When entering into a financial contract to pay X a month. They have a right to check your credit worthiness.
Clearly they see that no one would pay for a 2 year sim contract in one go. Given that they also include a annual RPI increase in your tariff.
Why the worry about a hard search?Life in the slow lane1 -
Why on earth would you pay £96 upfront just to avoid a hard search for a phone sim? Makes no sense.0
