@LadyWithAPlan - While I'm not completely better yet, I had to sleep more and also still coughing and sometimes out of breath, however I'm feeling much better than I was thank you.

Have avoided going to the supermarket so far this week. However, we bought some fruit from the greengrocers including some delicious satsumas. I find satsumas so much easier to peel than so called easy peelers and they taste sooo much nicer. Also bought a treat from the butchers for tea tonight - Sizchuan beef stir fry which I'll serve with a special fried rice which sounds much more glamorous than fridge bottom and freezer bits fried rice.

@Suffolk_lass Well done on avoiding the shops. Your pasta sounds frugal and delicious
@Blackcats your comment about "special fried rice" made me laugh out loud. I serve the same thing in my house
Alas, l will need to go shopping again soon, we get through such a lot of fresh items, veg, salad, bread, milk etc. But, l will eat before l go, and try and stay focused on my list and not all the temptations around me.

Afternoon All
@Doom_and_Gloom hope you are feeling better. I was laid low with a similar bug, last week and, while I’ve recovered, still have times when the symptoms come back and bite. (I came home from work, coughing, on the Tuesday and phoned in sick the rest of the week.)
One of the better side effects, is that I didn’t do any real shopping until this Tuesday. I had done a quick sprint to Iceworld on the 2nd, to buy some much needed tortilla wraps (£1.25 for a pack of 8), but that was “it” until Sunday, when we spent £4.29 on picnic lunch stuff.
Tuesday, I braved Sainsbug’s and Lidl. In Sainsbug’s, I spent £11.02 on fresh veg, two packets of Yeo Valley yoghurts (£1.50 each with Nectar price), and a 15ml bottle of Olbas OIl (£4.50). In L!dl, I went a little mad… £41.13 spent mainly on things that we don’t need right now but which are nice to have: frozen salmon en croute (£4.69), two Pork & Cranberry pastry wreaths for £3.99 each (we’ll have one for dinner tonight), ready rolled pastry on offer, mixed nuts (which’ll go in my breakfast cereal but not until January), breakfast cereal (that I probably won’t use until February), and two packets of frozen berries (which I’m slowly adding to my breakfast each morning). The above brings our GC Spend to £68.50/£160 leaving £91.50 for the rest of the month.
Mealplan-wise, I have almost nothing lined up. Dinner tonight is going to be one of those pork and cranberry wreaths. Beyond that, we’re out tomorrow night and I know I have to come up with something for DH to have on Saturday. (I’m singing in a concert so will be eating with my choir buddies.). Then we need something for Sunday lunch, which better generate leftovers for Monday’s work-day lunch….(we’re at football in the evening.)…< sigh >… Part of the problem is that I’m totally uninspired by cooking at the moment. Nothing appeals. And, when I do cook, it’s all a bit blah….

Well, DH announced he was going out at 6pm and zero food planned so I did actually shop yesterday. Butcher for bacon and offal then Morries for a bigger shop. I spent just over £50 on groceries, plus £26 on stores things like soap, biscuits, bleach and so on. The two Christmas/New year packs of smoked salmon are outside that though... £114 spend so far in December after that lot, including next week's milk billSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
