Apple Pay payment…six months late!

Good morning.
I had to check my online bank this morning and I noticed a transaction from the company (that I have used on and off regularly a small business) It came out of my account yesterday, the only thing is I placed an order online and used Apple Pay but the date of the order which I had received was on the 16th of May!
So somehow over six months later this money has been taken out of my account. I’ve checked my online banking for May and it seems that this is the first time the payment has been taken. I make a lot of purchases and somehow it never got flagged to me that it didn’t leave my account and the company never contacted me either.
what do you think happened, do you think they stored my bank details or was it just a glitch in the system? I can’t contact them until Monday

Someone has run a audit check & realised payment did not go through.
Happens quite a bit.Life in the slow lane1 -
Obviously you owe the money. But if it’s put you in financial difficulty such as putting you overdrawn or over your limit you could do a charge back for late presentation.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own1

Ultimately you have received their goods.or services and consumed them, and they are claiming their money which is rightfully theirs. Harsh as it may sound!1

Thank you indeed. I’m just wondering how it even happened.0

If it's the first time it's ever happened to you then you've been fortunate, I think you'll find that most people will have had it at least once. If you're very lucky a company will fail to request a payment within 6 years (it's happened to me twice) and they then have no legal right to request it. Within 6 months a company has an absolute right to take payment, but as yours was marginally more than 6 months you could dispute it, but all they'd need to do is properly request the amount due and you'd have to pay anyway.

The law of limitations in the UK is 6 years (5 in scotland) however the Visa and Mastercard scheme rules are that you should ask permission for collection if collection is to be more than 6 months from authorisation. There is an automatic chargeback category for collections over 6 months later but it's a technicality given its well within the legal limit.0
