Good morning all
Thank you for the start @Gers
Wet and windy here.
Went on the walk and talk Thursday, the weather was kind to us, a bit cold but at least it stayed dry. Lovely hot drink when we finished.
Nothing much planned, just trying to stay warm.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.11 -
Morning all. Drizzly here but no doubt Bert will appear at some point.
TA - poor bride. Not what you want to happen on your wedding day.
Yesterday I wrote most of the Christmas cards and now need to buy a few more. We've cut the list by 1/3rd and Dh is meant to be emailing people instead but I can't see that happening. I think I'll end up doing that as well! He was on the phone to BT for ages though and they are coming in a couple of weeks to change a cable from the road to the house as apparently we're going full fibre.
Have taken some chicken thighs out to defrost and will make tarragon chicken for dinner.
Happy Saturday everyone.10 -
The main road north at The Rest and Be Thankful is closed because of snow, jackknifed cars and a stuck wagon. Even the usual diversion on the old military road is closed, mind you that is much steeper than the main road and has many right hand turns. Here it's still driving icy rain and high winds.@TA - how awful for that poor bride.@WL - I cut out all Christmas cards many years ago and have emailed or phoned people since then. Writing the blooming things became a chore and a duty which I didn't enjoy - then the cards are binned. I still receive some cards from friends who prefer traditional means.@Chrisca - I hope that the tree-chopper-down is able to make it.@Camelot - fingers crossed that a full blown cold doesn't develop.I'm under my electric throw already, it's going to be a long day!9

No snow when I went to bed last night, lots of snow when I got up! We're under a yellow weather warning for the next 24 hours but it does feel a wee bit milder. Bert has arrived.
Yesterday I got done everything I wanted to do, including using the Tell Us Once service that was really simple and quick - good to see a lot of the information had already been pre-populated. DS scanned the death certificate into a PDF for me and I've attached a copy of that to the email I've sent to get DH's original Will back. DH's health care file that the District Nurses used is now in an envelope waiting to be returned next time I pass the postbox and I've checked that the continuing health care funding has been cancelled (yes, it has). Getting there, bit by bit.
Next week I'll tackle the utilities and look at claiming Pension Credit that I think I should be able to get. Either way, I'll need to look at the household budget and see where I stand.
Yesterday my house was like Parcel Central - three for my neighbour and one for me. Mine was the two pairs of trousers I ordered and I'm happy with them. One navy, one dark chocolate brown, lovely fabric and fit perfectly - a size smaller than I used to take.Even better, they were half price plus they sent a £15 MOC to use on my next order so I might order another pair in a different colour. The Snag tights are "on their way".
I had planned to go to our local church's Xmas fayre today but that idea has been abandoned (thanks, Bert) - such a shame for the organisers. Not to worry, I have plenty to occupy myself with if I feel like it, if I don't then I'm not averse to curling up with a book!
Last night's tea was a pasta meal of tagliatelle to which I added some mushrooms, the last slice of ham (shredded) and a few peas. I used cheese spread mixed with a bit of the pasta water for the sauce and topped with grated cheese. No idea what I'm having tonight, I'll decide nearer the time. I have a well-dated small gammon joint to cook but I might leave that for now since there's not much room in the freezer. I'm still getting used to the fact it's smaller than my previous one, plus shopping and cooking for one.
Right, waffle over, time for a coffee and a peruse of the TV guide. I'll be watching Moonflower Murders again, just hope I can remember what happened last week!
Stay safe if you have to go anywhere today, hugs where needed or wanted. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -

Hello all, it's very wet and windy here already, the car is covered with leaves. I had a rotten night so I had a lie in this morning.
Yesterday we went to Dad's and Mr Fix It did his bill paying plus sent in his gas and electric meter readings. I pottered about and threw out some rubbish he had been hoarding on the kitchen worktops. I cleared out his fridge too as there was something smelly in it because he now seems to be hoarding half eaten meals. Quite a bit went out plus 2 slices of green bread too 🤢. The fridge should have a nuclear waste warning on the door !! We then went to the garage for petrol and then called in the chippy on the way home as I couldn't face cooking, not after Dad's fridge !
Today I want to look for my winter bootie slippers which I'd forgotten about so a tidy up of the bottom of the wardrobe will be needed. I don't know how it gets in such a mess, must be that elf again !
TA how awful for that bride, hope she can enjoy the day.
taff from one poorly to another, gigantic hugs. 🧡
Yorkslass hope you can get the pension credit.
Right I'm procrastinating about looking for those booties, I must get myself going.
Take care all, stay safe and warm.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11
