Best worktop for Belfast sink

What is the best worktop to use with a Belfast sink?

Does compact laminate work? I had wood before and didn't find it an issue, so that was another option.

Thanks

I put an Iroko one in our kitchen about 20 years ago, and it's still in good condition.
  • Any solid or composite worktop is fine, composite worktops expect the fitting cost to be high as they destroy blades and router bits, compact laminate is the only time I have ever had a cutter snap on me.
Traditionally wooden worktops looks best but that depends on the style of kitchen you are going for.

I did my apprenticeship in a joinery shop anything external was made with Iroko, it’s so full of oil will last a lifetime outside unfinished.
