Free electricity??
Over 3 months ago I switched gas and electricity supplier having been with separate companies before. My new supplier seems to have messed up the switch and is only billing me for gas. I’ve had final closing bills from both previous suppliers and received credit refunds. When I called to check why no electricity bill they just said we have your readings from both smart meters and told me not to worry. It was nearly clocking off time I think. My direct debit is enough for both fuels and about the same as I was paying before.
Question is, should I chase again? Ofgem rules state suppliers cannot back bill more than 12 months so from 13 months onwards it’s essentially free. I’m building up a large credit balance as usually most of my direct debit goes towards electricity.

The back billing rules do not apply if there's sufficient credit in the account to clear the unexpected bill. You'd have to be on Variable Direct Debit to have a chance of getting away with it.0

Back billing rules only kick in if your account doesn't have sufficient balance to cover the charges. There may be a good reason why they are unable to start billing for electricity, such as a disputed opening read.
