Backdated bill from 2022

Good morning all
I just wanted to make you all aware of something. I got an e-mail from Octopus energy a few days ago, making me aware that they hadn't charged me for some energy I had used in April 2022. The bill was for £36 which they debited from my balance. I e-mailed them immediately asking them why it had taken them 2.5 years to realise this. They just replied telling me it was a mistake and I shouldn't of been charged as it was over 12 months ! How many other people who don't check their e-mails so regularly have been rinsed in this way ??
