Need to get a laptop replacement battery as it is giving charge problems.

Dell Inspiron 1464

I have seen 2 places to get it from ebay for £17 and Amazon for £33.

ebay is cheaper, but would there be any concerns to get it from there?

(for example it is less quality to the Amazon one, or will not last as long as the Amazon one?)

or it could just be an item from a 3rd world country and the quality not as good?

I save money using ebay but the cheapest option is not always the best.

I would work on the assumption that a generic chinese non-OEM battery will be pretty much the same inside as any other chinese non-OEM battery. While I am sure it will work and be compatible, pay little regard to the quoted specifications, capacities, and counties of origin as they are often just cut and paste and bear little resemblance to the reality.(example the Amazon one which states "True Canadian Brand!", then 10 lines down,  "Country of origin‏ China")

There is no real way to know other than getting one and seeing how it goes.  :)

Personally, I would only ever buy a replacement laptop battery from the original manufacturer / authorised resellers. I'd rather spend a few extra quid for known quality than risk my house burning down.

    Ah, reassuringly expensive!

I do sort of agree even though it only reduces the chances (hopefully) but doesn't eliminate the risk altogether!
