Morning all
Cold and very frosty here and yesterday we had some snow 😃 it only lasted an hour or so but it was lovely for a while, Robs mum phoned to say she didn’t want him going out in the snow so I had an unexpected day off which was nice.
I woke this morning with a horrible sore throat and tight chest I feel a bit ropey tbh I went into DD’s room to see is she had any washing and was emptying the basket into another one and fell over 😳 I kind of slid down the wall and landed in a heap on the floor I think I am going to be very bruised down one side, I’m only 55 so surely not at the stage of falling over yet !
Im going to have an easy day today just walk the dogs and that will be it, I made a bacon and Stilton quiche yesterday so that’s for dinner tonight with some hm coleslaw and roasted new potatoes.
Taff have you been diagnosed with diabetes? I know if it’s pre then you can reverse it with healthy eating and weight loss, hugs to you xx
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Have awoken to another bright sunny day but I think we had a bit of sleet overnight and the pavements are looking icy - glad I don't have to go anywhere today - and it's flipping freezing.
@nannywindow - Fingers crossed they can get your meds sorted. Enjoy your lunch @ScarletRibbons.
Well, that was a busy but productive day yesterday. First off, DS and I called at the pharmacy to collect his meds but that was quickly abandoned as the queue was unbelievably long. On to the Registrar, all done in 20 mins, and we were able to hand in DH's Blue Badge there too. Next up, Sainsburys. Shopping done in good time and I won't need a delivery next week. Back to the pharmacy and success, the queue had gone down to a more reasonable level. Next port of call was the Funeral Director to hand in the green form and pay the invoice. The cremation is next Tuesday and they will let me know when I can collect DH's ashes, could take up to 3 weeks but is normally one week. We didn't go to the CS but that's OK as what I have for them isn't in my way and there will probably be more stuff to add, so it may as well be done in one trip.
When we got back home we had a hot cuppa and a sandwich. DS changed the light bulbs in the living room ceiling fitting for me (it's a 3 light chandelier type but not an overly fussy one). The bulbs were one of my purchases in Sainsburys and are LED so should last longer than the old incandescent ones. I hope! No parcel from Royal Mail but, when I checked my Inbox, I'd had another message from them to say it would now be delivered by 7.30 pm and it duly arrived just before 5 pm.
The gas/electricity statement arrived and, as expected, the cost was a bit more than the previous month but not too much as it's nibbled just £9 from the credit balance. As usual, the SCs and VAT charges were annoying.
On today's To Do list - let DBiL know when the cremation is, get the breadmaker on, use the Tell Us Once service and do Friday's banking admin. Anything else I do after that I'll take as a bonus! Tea tonight will be fish fingers plus a bit of green salad and some pasta.
Stay warm and safe all, let's hope Storm Bertie doesn't wreak too much havoc. Hugs where needed or wanted. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -

Hi everyone,
I've just put my second birthday cake of the week in the oven. Esben and Esther's other Grandad, his partner and Brian's brother are coming down for the weekend from Scotland and we will be going to lunch with Chris Crystal and Nate tomorrow so a second cake is warranted. Esther was so tired and snuffly on Wednesday that she wasn't at all happy until we began singing happy birthday to her and then her face was transformed so I hope it will make her as happy tomorrow.
As well as two cakes yesterday I made savoury veg flapjacks and a banana loaf so that the bananas wouldn't be wasted. Steve made dinner though, it was stir fry and he's much better at that than me, it was delicious. I don't know what we will eat tonight, L and B are going to take another look at a house in Cookham, Brian hasn't seen it, or the area yet. They were going to take Esther but I said that I would have her rather than make her sit in the car for several hours. Brian will come back by train because he is meeting his brother who will be staying with us. We can't fit the other two in the house so they are staying in a hotel.
TA I try to keep in touch with elderly relatives but I'm afraid that when that generation goes most of the ties will be lost. I have virtually no contact with any of my four brothers and don't know their children at all. I console myself that if we had met as strangers we would not be friends.
Nanny, I hope stopping the treatment works.
Yorks lass, well done on all the admin.
Have a good day.12 -
snoozer said:Hi everyone,
L and B are going to take another look at a house in Cookham, Brian hasn't seen it, or the area yet. TCookham is so lovely. I only know it through the work of the artist Sir Stanley Spencer who painted so many of the local people and the village. https://stanleyspencer.org.uk/our-collection/I've been out and back. The roads near me were very slushy but clear further up. I only went to my friends house, got my signature signed and left, just in case the roads got icy. When the postie comes I'll give her the letter. The wood burner is set all ready to go, won't light it yet as I'm wrapped up well and under the electric throw so am cosy.

Afternoon all, quick one from me as we need to set off in 15 mins to get DGS.Yesterday before we went to school we called on our friends as it's on the way, they were both very pleased to see us, but it'll be the last time for a while as DH won't be able to drive after his op next Wed. I've been busy washing/freshening up lots of towels in readiness. We've been to Mr T this morning to get a couple more towels, another single sheet & bath mat, and some jogger shorts that the hospital has asked him to wear. Stocked up on batteries, toilet rolls( got a bargain pack reduced to half price as it had been ripped then taped up
) wine for Cmas in the 25% off deal, and a gammon.
Yorks Lass, sounds like everything is nicely organised- I'd forgotten all about that tell them once thingy.Snoozer, hope the 2nd cake does the trick tomorrow.Trying to rain now but the pavements are still slippy, cars trying to get out onto the main road this morning kept sliding back. We need a grit box there.Right better go, take care in the storm, ice , snow etc.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Hello everyone
I meant to come on a while ago but I was distracted by looking on Amazon for books for mam and dad to give me for my Christmas present!
Snoozer I hope Esther is a bit better tomorrow for her 2nd birthday cake.
Little one has managed a whole week at school this week and a birthday party after school today! Now we just need her to stay healthy next week so they enjoy their trip to Butlins...when they went around the same time last year they ended up in hospital for a couple of days.
She's arriving here 'early' in the morning - I'm not sure how early - and I'll have her company until Sunday lunch time, so that will be lovely. If the weather is as bad as is forecast we'll not be out, but I have a new Christmas colouring book to keep her busy and I'll get her Christmas books and jigsaws out too, though she may be too big for the jigsaws now.
I don't expect I'll get back on till Sunday afternoon, so I hope everyone has a good weekend x5
