I used MSE weekly letter to select a suitable SIM-only deal; the 1-year 50Gb/month iDmobile deal won with their special offer. I agreed the transfer of my number and then discovered that they only post SIM cards second class so that I would not receive it for several days! Meanwhile my original phone card was switched off on the Monday while I was still waiting for the iDmobile card to arrive!
That was to be only the first problem.

To summarise, despite their instructions about logging in, both the laptop and the phone app proved impossible to succeed.  The app repeatedly crashed on entry, giving me error 500 and a long line of meaningless alphabetic data. Yes, I twice tried uninstalling and then reinstalling it but it crashed every time.  Similarly, the website repeatedly came up with 'oops, something has gone wrong, please repeat (this nonsense) again.'

I tried using the 'livechat' facility because they do not have a telephone line nor a mobile phone contact number (!!!).  On each occasion the operator gave me the same instructions, watched it fail, and finally told me that they would refer it to their technical team.  After a week of four sequential failures I have still heard nothing from them at all.

I am now trying to escape from this nightmare but even the 'text xxx with your birthday' to get a termination quote' actually fails!!!

How can I leave a.s.a.p.?

  • Have you got a working SIM with your number successfully transferred?

Are you within their cancellation window (which I assume will be from the point of the order being accepted)?

I'm afraid I can't advise but just wanted to sympathise - I am now in a contract with iD and would never go back to them, a year to go before I can move! I had issues transferring my number over from my previous company (o2) which was entirely on iD and all I could do was live chat, the person I spoke to was genuinely rude and I was shocked by the messages they sent, which were quite aggressive and unpleasant at times. I'll see my contract out but I've found that the mobile coverage they offer (via 3 I think?) is poor and their customer service even worse. I wish you lots of luck sorting it out and am sorry I can't offer anything more helpful :(

I was able to cancel the contract!  Frankly the whole service was appalling.  I could not log in on either the website or the mobile app.  The site simply lost every setting and was constantly asking me to change my password.  Finally it accepted the password and showed me a blank screen.  Every time.  I couldn't proceed at all.  The live-chat facility was never available despite promises , and it was similar on the app!  I was totally isolated, unable to speak to them at all.  Finally I got through on livechat when it came on after some days.  I went through a cycle of them giving me a link that failed every time!  They watched it fail and 'referred it to the technical team' which never happened.  Finally, after several days of not being able to use it,I decided to cancel.  That was an experience.  They initially tried to charge me a termination fee of £84 but I adamantly refused pointing out that they had not provided any service for the entire time.  Eventually it was reduced to a small fee.  I am summarising a lot here; there were several attempts by me to fix it via live-chat - all leading to the same cycle of nonsense.

I strongly recommend everyone to leave iDmobile well alone, based on my experiences.
