A place to hold myself accountable

Up until 4 years ago I wasn’t able to save anything and all my money went on my DD, bills and who knows what else. Then lockdown happened and I stopped spending money on anything. My DD stopped her extra curricular activities which was a massive amount to add to the pot.
Fast forward to today, I’m mortgage free since 2022 and currently have £10k in savings. You might be thinking why is she here, well, this past year all I’ve done is spend. First our wedding, which after 20 years together was long over due and then decided I need a long expensive holiday to make me feel better about turning 40 next year.
I need to hold myself accountable and have been lurking here for a while and hope a diary will help me slow the spending.
What I would like to do is save another £12k in 2025 and secure a higher paying job than the one I’m in. If I’m successful in that I would be able to save £24k. Ideally, over the next 10 years I want to have a savings account of £80k or more if I secure the better job.

I think regular reviews are the best way to keep on top of finances and a diary is a good opportunity to reflect 👍Statement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. Beware fee charging companies with similar names.1

Hello, and welcome to the savings board!
It definetly helps with accountability to have a diary.
I think it's good to have targets to aim for, in the short term so you can feel the satisfaction of ticking them off as you go along!
Good luck 🤞♥️ ♥️ ♥️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸Decluttering 2025 So far 403 / 2025
