Hi all
I have just purchased a new car. I receive the enhanced rate mobiltiy component of PIP. This is next due for review in September 2025.
When I have been along to the Post Office today they have advised that they are unable to process the change in vehicle tax due to their being less than 12 months left prior to the next PIP Review. The lady at the Post Office advised if I rang DWP they can issue a new certificate of Entitlement with a "special code" which will allow them to process my extemption.
After finally getting through to DWP today they have essentially said no such thing exisits and couldn't really give a solution other than waiting for the next review or extension letter if this is delayed.
Do I need to just pay for the standard vehicle tax for now? If so can I get a redemption down the line after my next PIP Review? Thank you.

Even if review is due in Sept 25, it will be many months after that before it gets sorted. Current waits are around a year.
Wife's went in end of Jan & other than 3 texts saying we have the forms & will be progressing your review as soon as possible. No other contact has been made.

It does seem a bit unfair if we have to keep paying the full vehicle tax until they get round to my next review particularly given my chronic conditions which won’t change.

I believe that you can get a refund on a payment made when a PIP award is pending - you just tell them the dates when you fill in the form next year !
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0
