Moving house advice.
Options
Hi all. I wonder if anyone can advise me.
Moving in a few weeks to a house with a different energy provider from my current one. I am British Gas credit and the new property is octopus prepaid. I think the tenant I am swapping with may have arrears on their keycard meter.
What is the process please. I wouldn't mind going with octopus but iv applied for my warm home payment (I'm in scotland) with BG and have been told I will lose it. Is this correct?
I'm not sure what happens. I know I take readings but what do I do for power if say the leaving tenants credit runs out before I can be sent keys.
Thanks for any advice

OK - so you know you have to contact the existing supplier on moving in with meter readings, yes? At that time, you should also be able to ask them to switch the meters over to credit mode - as that can be done remotely via smart meters. Because you think there may be existing debt on the meter, it really is important that you prioritise that contact with the supplier on moving day - I would also ensure that you take photos of the readings as soon as you get in the door, and retain those photos in case they are needed later.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
