in Credit cards
When I was holiday in Europe in March, I have now realised that a 1.75USD payment was paid by my credit card account to a retailer I do not know at the same time I paid a restaurant bill. Then on the 12th March and every subsequent 12th of the month an online subscription payment of 29.95USD has been paid to 5 different companies. My credit card company have blocked the most recent company but have said I need to check my account on 12th next month to see if they try from a different address. They have said I have to contact the retailer. I do not know who the retailer is. I did not sign up for any subscription in the restaurant. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get my money back and ensure the unknown subscription is cancelled?
Thanks

What are the descriptions on the statement to these payments?
Especially the 1st one.
Google that & you might find how to stop them.
Would be most odd for a in person payment to result in the CPA. I would guess that it was something pre the restaurant bill. So possibly something if you used WiFi while away?Life in the slow lane0 -
Ask your bank if these are one off payments or a "continuous payment authority". Given they are different companies it must be one off payments rather than a subscription so sounds more like a cloned card.1

if they are fraudulent payments that you did not authorise then you do not have to go to the retailer the credit card have to refund you
my advice is not to try and link this to buying anything from a restaurant - you have no idea if that was the cause all you know is that you have fraudulent payments on your account
I would stick to this - you have no idea where they came from - please refund them0 -

The only issue with the above is just how were the payments made? If contactless or PIN, then bank will not refund if OP has card in possession & other spending afterwards was theirs.Life in the slow lane0 -

Let me guess, you were changing name or updating driving licence.
Sadly not fraud, just you were not on DVLA site. But a 3rd party one offering the service to change these for you.Life in the slow lane0 -
Apologies for the delay in replying.
Payments were to different US- based companies, but always for same amount in $ on same day of month.
I was on holiday in Europe when this started and did not subscribe to anything around this time. The only legitimate payments made were in bars and restaurants etc. and for accomodation.
Initially my CC company just blocked that card and issued a new one. There was little initial help offered to dispute the fraudulent transactions despite me asking.
Subsequent calls have now sorted this out and I have been refunded all the monies paid whilst the CC company investigate.
