in some case new franchisees are often General Managers of corporate run ( and may indeed by buying that branch out of corporate ) or other franchisee-owned Branches of a business, but that tends to be household names ...0 -

The OP states they are "investing" £15k but doesn't state if thats on leasing premises or buying the franchise etc. Again, depending on what they are selling the setup costs could be vastly more and timescales longer if its selling a bespoke product as you'd have to find a supplier to manufacture, design and creating the tooling, wait for the batches to be made and received etc.0 -
