has anyone closed then re-opened A & L premier direct?

Options
hiya,

I want to do the above for the following reasons:
1) get the £25 for being recommended by a friend
2) get the free £1000 overdraft for a year
3) get the regular saver account

It wouldn't bother me to have have to wait for a 3 month period or whatever before I opened a new account.
Has anyone tried the above? It seems like a good idea.

ta,

yogi

You can open a new one after the 3 month period is up.

Just done the same. Check with Group Customer Relations (see website contact us) the EXACT date your old account was closed before applying.

Beware that they allocate your old 'log in' details, but give you a new password. Once logged in you will see all your old accounts listed, but obviously not accessible. Threw me a bit, but they assure me I'm still eligible for the RAF incentive.

BTW, you won't get the Regular Saver with the Premier Direct current account, it's only available with the Premier current account.

You'd be better off applying through Quidco rather than a friend's referral as Quidco are offering £50 cashback and the refer a friend deal is now only £25 each.

Suppose it depends on how close the "friend" is. In the case of spouses, I suppose it doesn't matter too much. Is it possible to combine Quidco and RAF - thus making a total of £75 for the pair?

Not these days LV. For the RAF incentive you have to apply via an e-mail link (initiated by your 'friend') sent to you by A&L.

Do check the date you closed the account. The date you thought you did it and the date they got round to doing it could be 2/3 weeks later, as happened in my case. They simply didn't close it the day I requested, I had to ring and double check.

The reason for this, Mary, is that they require a 10 working day period of inactivity on the account, just in case there are are any unposted transactions.

ta for all the replies folks.

All I have to do is pay back my £1000 overdraft before I close it!
