I still wonder if the regulation of approval is equal across the various companies. Still I was reading about energy companies applying it like a gift over Christmas like they was doing people a favor.0

Oh thanks for acting like an energy saviour unbelievable, just give people the discount.
I don't know who it is.

Now if you will only receive this on certain days if your away or visiting relatives you won't see any saving because you wouldn't be using the energy.0

In Scotland they don't have enough property data to do it automatically so people still have to apply like they did before, but the criteria have been tightened.
Any discretionary funds are outside of the WHD scheme and thus up to suppliers, yes. But the WHD itself is a mandatory payment to the people/electricity accounts the government identifies as being eligible.0 -
Scam and Ponzi scheme. Just like the Thames Water Ponzi scheme. We're all paying an ever increasing amount for the 'free' the regulator should ban these companies for using the term 'free' it is patently not free. What's next? Free broadband on a Sunday? Would they get away with that?1

Spoonie_Turtle said:Eon did a 'support' tariff (25-50% discount) a couple of winters back that did require agreeing to have a smart meter fitted, IIRC. If the hearsay originated from any kernel of truth, it may well have been that.
(Not that smart meters have any more issues now than non-smart, the main issue of them stopping communicating when switching has been solved with the current generation of meters, SMETS2. Any other communication issues and you're still left with a meter that you can take a reading from anyway, just like with traditional meters.)0 -
