I'm on a Sky Plus box but can't upgrade to Sky Q as I live/rent an apartment with a communal dish

Hello! I've received a letter from Sky stating that my Sky Plus box will no longer receive updates and I basically need to move to Sky Q. We renewed our Sky contract a few months ago and were about to upgrade to Sky Q when it transpired that, because I live in a rented apartment block with a communal Sky dish, I would need my own dish to move to Sky Q, which seemingly I'm not able to do. Given that the building has a communal Sky dish, would it therefore be the responsibility of the buildings management company to sort this? And how would they sort this i.e. would this require an updated communal sky dish, or are we looking at every individual apartment needing their own individual Sky dish? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Adapters are available and you don't need your own dish.
The adaptors look something like this:

Your communal setup is almost certainly not going to get upgraded, there are copious single feed communal systems still in use which are older than Sky+HD.  The determining factor is whether its worth the investment.

You're supposed to get planning permission for Sky dishes on "your" wall, and the whole point of a communal system was to avoid this having copious dishes on the side of residential blocks.  However they continue to appear for one reason or another on buildings that have communal dishes so...

Sky are starting to move away from Sky Q now!

You should be able to move to Sky Stream. No dish required for that
  • Find a Sky shop (I have one in my city) and ask to see Sky Stream - the interface is very similiar to Sky Q
